EDUC 390 - English as a Second Language Methods and Assessment


This course delves into the theoretical foundation of ESL teaching, addresses current issues in the field, and provides practical experience in teaching English as a Second Language at the K-12 level. Students will explore methods and materials tailored specifically for ESL classrooms, including strategies for developing proficiency in language skills and engaging ELL students in both language and content learning. Furthermore, the course emphasizes effective assessment practices, including instruction on the WIDA system, which offers a comprehensive framework for evaluating English Language Learners’ language proficiency across diverse levels.
