The Data Science minor introduces students to the main ideas and techniques of data modeling along with the required background skills in computer science, mathematics, and statistics. Students will gain experience with methods of summarizing and displaying data, computer languages and data-related software, statistical modeling methods, data storage and retrieval, ethical considerations in handling and using data, and communication of results of data analysis projects. Students will also be introduced to opportunities for further study and careers involving data science.
The Data Science minor consists of 21 credits, or, 18 credits plus a non-credit experiential component. Students may not declare both a Data Science minor and a Statistics minor.
