The Asian studies minor aims to broaden a student’s major program of study by adding a global, comparative perspective to any area of inquiry in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The minor also helps to prepare students who desire careers in international affairs, international business, and international law. Studying abroad is strongly recommended, but not required.
The Asian Studies minor consists of 21 credits:
- 6 credits of Chinese or Japanese (choose one language) beginning with CHIN 101 or JAPN 101
- 15 credits of elective courses in either advanced Chinese or Japanese or interdisciplinary courses related to Asia
Students should choose elective courses in consultation with their Asian Studies advisor.
Students may count up to 16 credits from study abroad programs toward their Asian Studies minor.
