DAN 313 - Pedagogy II: Dance Technique


This course is designed to prepare students with comprehensive dance instruction in a variety of dance styles and abilities of learners. Coursework connects and applies the theory and practice of teaching dance technique, development of logical and progressive training practices, curriculum planning, and assessment. Students will gain understanding of teaching dance technique in multiple genres, connecting the learning of dance through kinesthetic and age-appropriate developmental stages, implement best practices, design and develop curriculum and lesson plans, and engage in dialogue related to particular topics, problems, or issues within the dance curriculum.

Prior to enrolling in this course, we recommend that students complete at least two dance technique courses in each discipline: Ballet, Jazz, Tap/Hip Hop, and Modern.
