CHEM 343 - Physical Chemistry I The basic principles of physical chemistry are introduced with applications in the chemical and biological sciences. Underlying principles of thermodynamics, equilibrium, and kinetics are developed and applied to solutions, enzymes, spectroscopy, and macromolecules from macroscopic and statistical perspectives. Lecture, 3 hours per week; discussion session, 1 hour per week. Students may take PHYS 121 or ENGS 340 either prior to enrollment in or concurrently with the class. MATH 231 is highly recommended prior to this course.
