Spanish Education P-12, BA

In partnership with the Hope College Education Department, the Department of World Languages and Cultures offers a P-12 Spanish language teaching major for certification through the Michigan Department of Education. The major consists of 24 credits and students must complete at least one semester in a study abroad program.

Students must also declare an elementary or secondary education major, depending on the level at which the student plans to teach:

• Elementary Education, 3-6 Gr, BA  
• Elementary Education, PreK-3, BA  
• Secondary Education, BA  

Students planning to teach elementary may also declare one or more of these minors:

• Early Childhood, Elementary Education Minor  
• Special Education, Emotional Impairments Minor  
• Special Education, Learning Disabilities Minor  
• Teaching English as a Second Language Minor  

Students planning to teach secondary may also declare one or more of these minors:

• Psychology Education Minor  
• Special Education, Emotional Impairments K-12 Minor  
• Special Education, Learning Disabilities K-12 Minor  
• Teaching English as a Second Language Minor
