English Education, BA

In partnership with the Hope College Education Department, the English Department offers an English teaching major in the secondary level for certification through the Michigan Department of Education. The major consists of 33 credits.

In addition, students must also declare one of the 44-credit secondary education teaching majors: Secondary Education, 5-9 Gr, 7-12 Gr, BA  (for a middle school focus) or Secondary Education, 7-12 Gr, 5-9 Gr, BA  (for a high school focus).

Students may also declare one or more of these minors:

• Psychology Education Minor 
• Special Education, Emotional Impairments K-12 Minor 
• Special Education, Learning Disabilities K-12 Minor  
• Teaching English as a Second Language Minor
