Spanish, BA

The Spanish major helps students develop advanced levels of proficiency in the language and advanced levels of cultural competency in the Spanish-speaking world. Courses include language and culture courses, as well as interdisciplinary courses in history, literature, and linguistics, and also Spanish for service and for the professions.

The Spanish major consists of 30 credits:

• 27 credits of Spanish beginning with SPAN 250  or SPAN 251  
• 3 credits of Spanish or Latin American literature: SPAN 362  or SPAN 364  

Students may count up to 9 credits from study abroad programs toward their Spanish major.
