NURS 390 - Enhancing Self-Care and Well-Being for Nursing Students


This elective course will focus on enhancing the self-care practices and well-being of nursing students. The course will introduce students to self-care theory and the dimensions of self-care including physical, intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, vocational, financial, and environmental self-care. Students will explore key concepts for each self-care dimension expanding their understanding of self-care and actively participating in self-care practices during and outside of class. Students will journal throughout the semester to reflect on their learning and self-care practices. Students will write a research paper examining the evidence for one self-care practice. Throughout the course, students will work on creating a self-care plan unique to their individual self-care goals and needs and present the plan at the end of the semester. Completion of one theory and practicum course is required prior to enrollment in or concurrently with the class.
