MATH 113 - Explorations with Data: An Introduction to Data Science and Analytics

This course will provide an introduction to the main ideas of data science and data analytics and their use in a variety of applications. Students will learn how to ask good questions about data and how to present results of data analysis clearly when writing or speaking. Students will be introduced to methods of summarizing and displaying data using spreadsheet-based analytical tools. The course will also include discussion of ethical issues in data collection, storage and analysis. Students will become familiar with career options involving data science and opportunities for further study.
