This course gives students a unique opportunity to take on the roles of judges and lawyers in a simulation of a Supreme Court appeal involving a constitutional issue of contemporary importance. Course participants will conduct legal research, draft briefs, and take part in multiple rounds of oral arguments as the case moves through the appellate process. Not only do students acquire in-depth knowledge of an area of  constitutional law, but they also develop important practical aptitudes such as learning the basics of legal research, polishing their writing, developing higher order analytical thinking, and refining oral advocacy skills. This course will benefit those considering legal careers, but also anyone who desires to hone their thinking and writing skills while gaining confidence in their ability to think quickly and on their feet.
