EDUC 396 - Teaching Multilingual Learners


This course introduces teacher candidates to foundational principles and practices for teaching multilingual learners in today’s classrooms. It examines past and present approaches, methods, and techniques for bilingual and multilingual education settings. Content addresses concepts such as multilingualism, translanguaging in classrooms, and culturally responsive and sustainable pedagogy, while emphasizing multilingual classroom ecologies as a guiding philosophy. Moreover, it integrates the latest research findings to develop and implement effective, research-based bi-/multilingual teaching pedagogies.
