THEA 306 - American Theatre A study of theatre in the United States from colonial times to the present. Emphasis will be placed on contemporary developments, beginning with O’Neill and the Provincetown Playhouse. This course will examine the literature of American theatre in order to determine how theatre reflects cultural systems and how theatre artists use their medium to express their belief or disbelief in those systems. THEA 143 is highly recommended prior to this course.
