SPAN 441 - Medieval and Early Modern Spain This topics course is designed to look into the beginnings and development of Spanish culture from pre-Roman Iberia to 18th century Spain. The course emphasizes historical, political, literary, and philosophical perspectives of the period by looking into the socio-political forces of the Reconquest, religious ideals, the struggle for hegemony in the Peninsula, in addition to the various crises during the Habsburg reign. Students will continue to develop their critical, analytical, ad creative thinking skills as well as their linguistic proficiency in Spanish. SPAN 362 or SPAN 364 is highly recommended prior to this course.
