SPAN 462 - Spanish Linguistics A course for advanced students of Spanish. The primary objective of this course is to approach the grammar of Spanish in a way which is most useful for those who will teach Spanish to native speakers of English. It is a course in Applied Linguistics where the knowledge of the structure of the Spanish language is discussed and supported by the study of both Spanish and English. Fields dealt with include: Phonetics and Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Second Language Acquisition, and Language and Culture. This course counts both as the Linguistics requirement and as an elective. Conducted in Spanish. SPAN 341 with a grade of C+ or better is highly recommended prior to this course.
