CHEM 101 - Introduction to Chemistry This course presents selected chemical concepts at an introductory level for students who are not majoring in one of the sciences. Topics include atomic, ionic and molecular properties, bonding, balanced equations, acids and bases, solutions, simple organic structures, polymers, and nuclear chemistry. Laboratory activities support concepts presented in lecture. Lecture, 3 hours per week; laboratory, one 3-hour session per week. GEMS 100 , or any calculus or statistics course is highly recommended prior to enrollment in or concurrently with this course. Cross-listed as GEMS 160 .
