MATH 219 - Accelerated Statistical Methods

This one-semester course covers all of the statistical methods normally covered in MATH 115  and MATH 215 . Topics include descriptive statistics, data visualization, statistical inference for one or more variables, parameter estimation using confidence intervals, understanding sources of variability, and study design. Students are introduced to both simulation-based and traditional theory-based inference. There is an emphasis on conceptual understanding and active learning using group activities and projects. The statistical methods covered in this course are used in peer-reviewed research across a variety of disciplines, and students will be introduced to statistical software that is widely-used in these fields. Students cannot receive credit for both MATH 115 /MATH 215  and Math 219.
