Visual Arts Education P-12, BA

In partnership with the Hope College Education Department, the Art and Art History Department offers a P-12 visual arts teaching major for certification through the Michigan Department of Education. The major consists of 51 credits.

In addition, students must also declare the 34-credit secondary education (no grade band) major, Secondary Education, BA .

Students must present a comprehensive portfolio for a junior-year review by the faculty and participate in the Graduating Senior Art Exhibition. The portfolio review must be passed in order to continue in the program and will determine whether or not the department can make a positive recommendation for student teaching.
