English, Creative Writing Emphasis, BA

The English major with a creative writing emphasis consists of 36 credits. You must have at least two different genres represented in your creative writing courses.

The English Department offers an opportunity for students’ deep engagement with the major to be acknowledged on a student’s transcript as the “Creative Writing Major completed with Distinction,” should students wish to pursue additional coursework beyond the major requirements. In order to receive this distinction, students will complete the requirements of the major and they will also complete:

• One additional 200- or 300-level ENGL course in any area, and
• One additional 300-level creative writing course
