In partnership with the Hope College Education Department, the Department of World Languages and Cultures offers a K-12 Spanish language teaching major for certification through the Michigan Department of Education. The major consists of 24 credits and students must complete at least one semester in a study abroad program.
Students must also declare an elementary or secondary education major, depending on the level at which the student plans to teach:
- Elementary Education, 3-6 Gr, BA
- Elementary Education, PreK-3, BA
- Secondary Education, 5-9 Gr, 7-12 Gr, BA (for a middle school focus)
- Secondary Education, 7-12 Gr, 5-9 Gr, BA (for a high school focus)
