Bachelor of Music performance students can choose a specific instrument focus. There are a core set of requirements for all instruments. Specific requirements for the most common instruments are listed below.

Anchor Plan for Bachelor of Music
The Bachelor of Music degree has a modified set of Anchor Plan requirements:
- The Arts in Practice requirement will be met with courses required for the major.
- BMU students take one Human Creative Perspectives course and one Historical Perspectives course (first course at the 100 level; second course at the 200-level). They do not need to take a Philosophical Perspectives course.
- The Mathematics and Natural Science requirement is 6-7 credits: one Mathematics course, and one Natural Science with Lab course.
Students who plan to complete both the BMU degree and a second degree (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) must complete the full BA/BS Anchor Plan requirements.
Core Music Performance
Counterpoint or Post-Tonal Theory (1 course)
Ensembles (4 credits and 8 courses)
Must take an ensemble each semester.
Organ Requirements
The Bachelor of Music organ performance major consists of 79 credits.
Private Instruction (24 credits)
Secondary Instrument Private Instruction (4 credits)
- Any MUSA course, but all 4 credits must be taken in the same instrument
Piano Requirements
The Bachelor of Music piano performance major consists of 79 credits.
Private Instruction (24 credits)
Secondary Instrument Private Instruction (4 credits)
- Any MUSA course, but all 4 credits must be taken in the same instrument.
Violin/Viola Requirements
The Bachelor of Music violin/viola performance major consists of 74 credits.
