Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) provides a critical, interdisciplinary, and cross-cultural understanding of women, gender, and power in a global context.

About the Program

Focusing on the social inequalities that result from interlocking oppressions, WGS engages students in the discovery and production of knowledge from feminist perspectives and empowers them to link their academic pursuits with a call to activism. Within the context of the historic Christian faith, students learn to:

  • Think more critically about their own lives
  • Value complexity, diversity and difference
  • Mobilize feminist theories
  • Become agents of justice in the world

Whereas, historically, the voices of women and other minorities (including feminist men) have been muted, Women’s and Gender Studies puts these voices at the center of the curriculum.
