WGS 301 - Transnational Feminisms The course focuses on feminist theorizing from and about the Global South in order to highlight the links between the Global North and Global South in terms of maintaining and subverting systems/practices of gendered domination. This approach involves unpacking the politics of solidarity, challenging feminists from the Global North to examine their position within systems of domination. Through readings, examples, and assignments that center feminist praxis from the Global South and address differences across women and sexual minorities with respect to race, class, nationality, and colonial history, this course provides a theoretical foundation for building radical solidarity and interrogating uncritical shared visions of gender equality.
