REL 321 - Pentateuch: The Torah of the Hebrew Bible

This course provides a close study of one of the most influential group of texts in human history - five books at the beginning of the Jewish and Christian Bibles referred to as Torah, the Pentateuch, or the Five Books of Moses. The course examines these books in terms of their historical setting, literary genres, key themes, ancient and modern interpretation, and ongoing significance for Judaism and Christianity. A Rel 200-level course is highly recommended prior to this course.
