MATH 321 - History of Mathematics This course is designed to give mathematics students an opportunity to study the various periods of mathematical development. Attention will be given to the early Egyptian-Babylonian period, the geometry of Greek mathematicians, the Hindu and Arabian contribution, the evolvement of analytical geometry since Descartes, the development of calculus by Newton and Leibniz, and non-Euclidean geometry. Some attention will be given to the methods and symbolisms used in problem solving during various periods of time.
