GES 211 - Local Environmental Systems


This course introduces the scientific study of our planet in terms of natural systems, their interactions, and their modification by human activities, on a local scale. Subjects addressed include air pollution modeling, fate and transport of water pollution, contaminant toxicology, human health risk assessment, soil chemistry and degradation, wastewater and drinking water treatment, and land-use assessment. Learning is facilitated by quantitative problem solving and case studies.
