MATH 241 - Teaching Algebra to Adolescents This course prepares mathematics teacher candidates to teach algebra to secondary students. Candidates will develop curriculum materials focused on algebra that will engage diverse secondary students with a wide range of abilities in mathematical thinking, communication, and problem-solving consistent with national and state standards. Activity and laboratory approaches for teaching mathematics will be emphasized with topics such as linear systems, functions, sequences and series, matrices, and other algebraic topics. Candidates will learn to plan units, lessons, and instruction to demonstrate content competency in a range of mathematics content.
